Jesus Trail
(The following is a sample itinerary. WomenWalkers reserves the right to change this itinerary according to the weather, number of participants and other factors. While the itinerary may vary, the flavor of the tour will remain the same)
The Jesus Trail is an ongoing tour that can be planned for your group. This is open to men, women and children. The activity level is for those in good shape and who enjoy walking. Some of the path is more strenuous than other parts and participants can opt to ride the bus. The following is a sample itinerary that can be customized for your group:
Day 1
Group arrival in Tel Aviv and transport to Jerusalem. Jerusalem of Gold. We begin our tour at the Haas Promenade which offers a gorgeous view of all Jerusalem. From here we have a comprehensive walking tour beginning in the Jewish Quarter, visiting the Cardo, the burnt house, City of David, Hezekiah’s tunnels, the Western Wall, the Western Wall tunnels, the Upper Room where the last supper took place, winding our way around to the Muslim Quarter and the ancient market. Our day ends with a lovely dinner in the city and time to shop at the Ben Yehudah outdoor mall.
Day 2
Jerusalem. We begin our day visiting the Temple Mount. Our walk continues to the Mt. of Olives to the Garden of Gethsemane, along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and on to the Garden Tomb. We’ll do a walking tour of Ein Kerem, birthplace of John the Baptist and enjoy a delicious dinner here.
Day 3
Our final day in Jerusalem will be spent visiting Yad Vashem, the holocaust museum, Har Herzl, the famous military cemetery, the Shrine of the book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed. We then bid farewell to the magical city of Jerusalem and begin traveling to the Dead Sea region where we will enjoy dinner at our hotel.
Day 4
Early wake up for a sunrise climb of Masada, the summer home of King Herod and the sight of the poignant last stand of the Jewish Zealots during the The Great Jewish Revolt against the Romans. We visit Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered and spend the rest of our day at Ein Gedi Spa, swimming in the Dead Sea, in the pool, or indoor mineral pools or enjoying an optional spa treatment. Day 5
Our last day in the desert we enjoy an incredible hike in a desert oasis Nahal Arugot or Nahal David and then head for Nazareth. We begin our tour of Nazareth visiting the Church of the Annunciation, St. Joseph’s Workshop and Mary’s Well. Dinner at hotel.
Day 6
Today we begin by visiting Nazareth Village, where a village guide takes us on a tour of life as it was in the 1st century. From here we begin our first stretch of the Jesus trail. Beginning today and for the next three days we will pass through significant sights in Christianity as we spend each day walking a portion of the Jesus Trail from Nazareth to Zippori, Arbel Cliffs, Tabgha, Capernaum and the Mt. of Beatitudes. Day 7
Second day along Jesus Trail. In the evening relaxation at wonderful outdoor mineral springs and lovely dinner.
Day 8
Third day along Jesus Trail. Wonderful evening walking tour of Druze village with delicious feast in Pekiin.
Day 9
Final day of Jesus Trail. Head toward Tel Aviv. If possible stop at area for dinner and swimming along Mediterranean and head to Ben Gurion for late night departure.
